Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara is pleased to announce the Gurmat Gyan Course that takes place during 3 weekends in January 2012.

The following courses will be held at the Gurdwara Sahib:

January 15th – Gurbani is the light to illluminate this world.

January 22nd – Invisible World related to our Daily Life

January 29th: Learn How to Sow the seed of inspiration about Gurmat in our kids.

This series is undertaken by Bhai Ram Singh and this interactive presentation takes place in the main Darbar Hall of the Gurdwara Sahib at 1pm on these dates.

Parenting Support Workshops

Anyone can learn to be a better parent.

No one comes into this world knowing how to be a good parent. The challenges and experiences of our lives directly affect the environment we create for our own children and these challenges evolve and change for each generation. Today we live in a digital age that makes it even more difficult to keep up with our children and understand them and their needs.

Learn more about these challenges and what we can do as a parent to further develop positive parenting skills, through the GNSG Parenting Support Workshops.

Wednesdays starting January 11th from 6-8pm at GNSG Senior Centers.

Topics: Open discussion on current concerns of parents and on topics such as communication, drugs, gangs, bullying, peer influences, internet and parenting styles.

This is a FREE 6 Week Program for parents – Program conducted in English and Punjabi.

This program is facilitated by Karen Sekhon, a Youth Diversity Liaison Coordinator.

Siking Trip: Jan 14 2012

Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib is pleased to present the Sikh Family Activity Group, the group designs monthly activities for youth and families and in December organized the very successful Snowflakes activity.

For the month of January 2012, the group has organized a Ski Trip for families, which takes place on January 14th and takes the families to Cypress Bowl.

This event is for all ages and for children under 13 it is $62.00 and for adults it is $82.00 . This includes lessons, rentals and the ski lift for the whole mountain for the day. We meet at the Gurdwara at 7:30 am sharp.

Please note registration is limited due to the bus capacity and please register in person at the Gurdwara Office.

Sikh Youth Kinect

Sikh Youth Kinect (Video Games Night), starts at Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara on Jan 6th 2012

This program is for youth aged between 15 and 20 years and is a way for them to connect with their peers and play video games on large screens. The Program is organized by youth and their will be a 10 minute open discussion during the break, and the topic will be decided by the youth attending.

Program is from 8:30pm to 10:30pm on Fridays and takes place at the GNSG Seniors Center – building by back gate.

Monthly competitions, Prizes will be awarded and Snacks are provided.

Remember this a FREE event and registration is required, as we do have limited video game equipment.

Shan-e-Sikh Gurmat Camp: Dec 27-31

Guru Nanak Gurdwara is organizing its annual Shan- e-Sikh Gurmat Camp from December 27th to December 31.

This is a unique camp, concentrating on the Sikh Martial Art of Gatka and teaching participants through lessons, Turban tying and Gurmat questions and answers.

Come daily and enjoy Gatka Classes, Turban Tying and Gurmat Q & A. The camp is held from 10am to 3pm.

Special Sunday Youth Darbar: Dec 25

On December 25th, the Gurdwara Sahib will be having a special sunday youth darbar program. Each December the Gurdwara Sahib remembers the supreme sacrifice of the Shotay Shaibzadey, the younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who gave their lives for the religion and become the youngest martyrs in history.

This special program on Sunday December 25th, will be led through a powerpoint presentation and include a draw for a iPad 2 and additional prizes, balloons and other treats.

Come join us each Sunday for the Sunday youth and family darbar, where parents and youth can connect with their faith and each other and help strengthen our families and communities.

Sikh Kids Group: Snowflake Activity

On Sunday December 18th, kids from the Gurdwara Sahib will be joining us at the Gurdwara for a craft activity, creating snowflakes and decorating the Langar Hall with them.

This is part of the Gurdwara’s Kids Group, which educates kids through different Sikhi related programs and helps grow kids through field trips and other activities.

The programs starts at 4pm and concludes by 6pm, before the Sunday Youth and Family Darbar.
